The Holiday Hostess
Posted by
XoXo, Vicki
I'm imagining the life of a homemaker in the 1950's. Pristine hair, darling make-up, and an apron for every outfit and every occasion!
A trio of aprons perfect for the holiday hostess! Decorative Instincts presents a classic black and white bib apron. Large floral print is accented with black trim and a black bow.
I couldn't choose just one of Spice Rack Designs retro-chic aprons. Stylish, custom designed aprons are impeccably made and selling like hot cakes! The gingerbread house apron features retro print fabric, red detailing, and accented with pink polka dots.
The vintage rose apron is amongst the most spectacular I've ever seen. Features a lovely double layer, elegant huge bow, charming rose print, and is detailed in pink.
Your guest will be green with envy if you add a timeless apron to your upcoming Holiday gathering!

I'm in awe of cupcakes. Yes, cupcakes! There's something about a cupcake that invokes tummy grumbling feelings and child-like giggles. Mouth-watering in every variety from glass, knit, porcelain, and even wax. I've collected an array of my favorite treats for your enjoyment!
Urban Outfitters has these yummy, cupcake ornaments. Princess pink cupcakes are frosted with sprinkles and glisten with glitter. I'm loving the look of this delectable, shabby cupcake sign. For those of us who are on a diet, the Back Porch Shoppe creates distressed signs that aren't food related!
Delicious little cupcake purse is hand knit from Inspired by Thea is perfect for the little angel in your life! She'll love the cute design. Plus it's the perfect size for her lip-gloss. K. Grandey creates a porcelain, cherry-on-top, cupcake canister from a vintage mold. Scrumptious container is perfect for the girl who has it all! It makes a great addition to any room in the house.
I love the little things that make me smile! And frosting is my favorite topping...

I'm enjoying the little things in life, cherishing special moments, and earning my angel wings. For those of you that want to bring out the naughty side, try this "coal" necklace by SASessories. Amazing meteorite paired with Herkimer 'Diamond's. Fabulous all year long!
Imagine your little angel in this adorable Santa hat. Angel Beez created this Santa Dalton hat. Perfect for the holidays and making memories that last a lifetime - priceless!
Naughty bags of coal are Handmade by Anne Potter. A great gift for co-workers and Christmas parties. Reminiscent of a simpler time when the holidays were less about the gifts and more about family, friends, and heartwarming moments.
Wishing you and yours all the best life has to offer this holiday season!

I'm head over heels for this vintage flashback. There's something about Mickey Mouse that awakens memories of childhood. Get in touch with your youth with this vintage jersey top by Stephanie Bracciano. Flaunt your inner child with Mickey sweatshirts from Silver Closet.
Top off the look with an amazing, handmade pom pom hat from Maison de Terre or create your own with a vintage pattern by Vintage Pattern House.
It's all about fun! Bring joy into your life by channeling your inner child.

Timeless Beauty & Simple Elegance

XoXo, Vicki
I'm falling more in love with timeless beauty as each day passes.
From couture to classic, pearls are always in style. Catherine Walker designed this one of a kind dress for Lady Diana. The dress is still on display today and is recognized worldwide.
Carolyn bridal necklace created by TZTUDIO's combines ivory pearls and clear crystal rhinestones. A true beauty for your special day. Pearl accented hair pieces designed by Virginia Geiger Jewels unite a simple rose with soft feathers and a pearl encrusted center. These treasures compliment the style and fashion of remarkable women.
Incorporate pearls into your cocktail attire or wear a simple strand to the office for a refined look. Be classic, timeless, and simply elegant.

Toss in a couple spiral accessories. Add a little twist to the little black dress by pairing it with these sassy sling backs and creative Annabella clutch.
Become tangled up in ruffles with this tiered skirt by Sky Creations. The perfect piece for a flirtatious fall.
Just remember to mix ruffles with your wardrobe in moderation!

I'm smitten with Tiffany & Co. blue! Then again, who wouldn't love the sight of that little blue box? Classic, timeless, Tiffany...
Tiffany blue inspired purses for the 2009 collections of Dooney & Bourke and Kathy Van Zeeland. Looks like designers are smitten, too!

Halloween isn't just for the kiddies! Get ready for fright night. Plan ahead and have a great night without the outrageous cost.
1. Plan in advance!
Decide outfits and accessories a couple of weeks before the Halloween party. This will give you plenty of time to shop around for the best deals and be sure to hit the craft stores early!
2. Go Shopping!! Shop in advance for costumes or get stuck paying a ridiculous sum for poor quality.
Vintage is perfect for a cute, affordable, and stylish costume. Vintage lingerie, hippie dresses, 80s punk, and avant guard fashion are perfect for creative hearts! Shop for vintage online at Nostalgic Collections.
3. Decorate to your heart's desire!
Martha Stewart offers some amazing pumpkin carving templates. Use gourds and pumpkins as accessories in your autumn harvest theme!
Trick or Treat!

Fashion Icon Drew Barrymore

I'd like to start out today by stating that I ain't no english major. I feel that I have a decent grasp on the English language however, I am not a professional journalist with an English degree. Ooofta. Glad to get that off my chest. {Evidently, I even write Northern Minnesotan.}
Getting down to the nitty, gritty. I adore Drew Barrymore's sense of style. From the glamorous dresses to vintage punk, Drew is an absolute fashion chameleon.
Don't believe me? Here are a few of the fashions she's sported in 2009:
Image 1: Drew Barrymore in Nina Ricci. Image 2: Drew Barrymore in jeweled Alberta Ferretti gown and a birdcage veil. Image 3: Drew Barrymore in Alexander McQueen Resort 2010. Image 4: Drew Barrymore for Cover Girl.
I adore the fact that she isn't trapped into wearing the "same ol' style" day after day.
Your thoughts? I'd love to hear you comments!

An Introduction to My "Obsession"

XoXo, Vicki
Welcome!
I'd like to formally introduce you to my "obsession" with vintage clothing, fashion, and style.
I'm ecstatic to announce that last week marked the release of my website, www.NostalgicCollections.com. I'm getting my foot wet with a new hobby (and crossing my fingers hoping one day it will become a career). Some days I feel like I've jumped off the deep end! LOL
Your thoughts? I'd love to hear you comments, so please chime in!
